About Our Club
Outaouais Wood Carvers (OWC) is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1982. Its aims and objectives are to promote fellowship among woodcarvers, to develop an interest in the art of woodcarving, and to develop a high standard of excellence in woodcarving and related activities. There is a monthly general meeting where members obtain updates from the executive team, exchange ideas and technical knowhow about woodcarving, inspire others and obtain inspiration. Members can display their work during Show and Tell, take part in our monthly Wood Wizard Challenge competition, compete in our yearly Progressive competition and attend workshops or learn from speakers. Members also have the opportunity to attend weekly woodcarving meetings called the East End Clutch (EEC) and the West End Clutch (WEC), and Pyrography meetings (wood burning). These gatherings provide a space for members to work on their pieces and get additional advice and help about woodcarving and pyrography. Members receive a quarterly newsletter containing updates about Wood Wizard and our People's Choice competitions, see photos of carvings and pyrography pieces created by our members and non-members. The OWC club also hosts an annual wood carving and pyrography show and competition in the fall, called Ottawa Wood Carving Competition. Download the constitution for details about our club.
