Join Darryl Kicul as he teaches how to carve a Bark House from cottonwood bark similar to those shown.

Darryl is a member of the Outaouais Wood Carvers and the National Capital Network of Sculptors. Darryl carves both wood and stone to create whimsical sculptures. He has been carving for over 20 years.






Target Audience: experienced beginner to intermediate level carver.

Note: The minimum number of participants required to run the course is 4 and maximum 8.


Bring your carving tools to the class. If you need some tools, the club will have a number of sets available for your use.

A sturdy cut resistant glove for your non dominant hand is essential for the course.

Tools required:

1/4”- 3/8” knife 1 ¼-1 ½” long

Shallow gouge 1/2” wide

Smaller gouges for detail work

Eye protection

Dust mask


Please bring your food and drink to class so we can use our time as best we can.

You will be required to sign a waiver which will be supplied at course.


Fee: OWC member $ 40

        Non-member $ 60 (includes a reduced $20 annual membership fee)
